VENUE SPECIFICATION

Below are the technical specifications as at 01/10/2003.
All of which are undergoing constant change.

Auditorium

• 1172 seats - 600 Stalls and 572 Circle.
Including easy access seating for up to 19 people in stalls. (Wheelchair access)
• Induction Loop in Stalls.
• 1932 Compton cinema organ of 11 pipe ranks on electrically operated lift, centre
auditorium in front of stage.

The Stage

• 50 feet wide proscenium arch.
• 23 feet deep, housetab line 4 feet upstage of front edge.
• 6 feet deep full flytower upstage of housetab line.
• Remaining 13 feet depth of stage under a recess. (No significant flying possible)
• Full set black masking cloths & 2 x sets ½ tabs.
• Partial set grey masking cloths, including ½ tabs
• Red F.O.H. tabs & 1 set red masking legs.
• White cyc. Available.
• Masking legs typically set at 40 feet across stage but can be increased or decreased to suit
• 12 counterweight sets, SWL 290kg each. (5 in flytower)
• 12 hemp sets, SWL 160kg each. (3 in flytower)
• Limited wing space – around 10 feet each side.
• Access to dressing rooms from both sides of stage.
• Access to P side from OP side or vice versa via corridor underneath stage.
• 9 dressing rooms for up to 135 performers.
• Up to 900 square feet perforated cinema screen on electric winch situated
at rear of fly tower masked to accommodate all film formats.
• In/Out time of screen under 1 minute.
• Weight around 250kg.
• Cinema speakers for movie use providing 3 channels & sub-bass.

Projection Box

• 35mm projection facilities with mono, stereo and Dolby Digital sound formats.

Lighting System

• DMX 512 control via Strand LBX desk situated at rear of stalls.
• 72 channels terminated with 16A Ceeform outlets situated as follows:
• 12 F.O.H. booms (either side of auditorium, situated near front of circle.)
18 F.O.H. rail (along circle rail.)

8 LX3
8 US & DS Dips, split either side into total of 16 outlets.
2 Orchestra pit.
• Circuits spread over 3 phases with 6 x 63 Amp MCB protection.
• 16A & 13A non-dimmed outlets available above stage and on stage.
• DMX 512 outlets at various positions around theatre for intelligent lanterns etc.
• Low voltage control lines also available.
• Standard LX rig consists of generic lighting in an even full stage wash of blue, red, amber and one of blue-green, pink, lavender.

In House Lanterns

• Depending on state of repair, but normally to include not less than-
• 16 x Patt 264 1kW profile spots
8 x T-84 zoom 1kW profile spots
4 x T-64 1kW profile spots
6 x Lekolite 1kW profile spots
6 x axial profile spots
24 x 1kW Fresnels
12 x PAR64 PARcans (CP60, CP62 & CP95 lamps available)
12 x PAR64 short PARcans (floorcans) (CP60, CP62 & CP95 lamps available)
4 x 1kW cyclights 4 x 4 circuit,
8 lamp compartment battens for footlight use.
6 x 4 foot u. v. fittings providing full stage u.v.
2 x 1200W HMI follow spots at rear of circle.
Other smaller devices.
• Lanterns & other electrical devices may be brought into the building
subject to current
PAT certificate and approval by TSM/RSM.
• Other devices such as small scanners, smoke machines & strobes available
by negotiation

Sound

• In house sound system and operator maybe available by negotiation.
• Clean supply 32A Ceeform single phase socket outlet provided for sound equipment.
• 24 channel (+ 2 stereo) into 4 into 2 modern sound control board.
• Graphic Equaliser & Digital Sound Processor.
• MD/CD/Tape can be provided.
• Various mics/DI boxes can be provided.
• 12 x mic outlets situated on stage.
• Main speakers situated on stage left & stage right.
Subwoofers situated in orchestra pit.
Circle speakers (6) situated in circle ceiling on manual winches.
• All powered by appropriate power amplifiers with delays & signal processors as
required.
• Communication system between SM, LX, F/S, SX, hemp perch, projection box and other areas if needed.

Get-Ins & Get-Outs

• All equipment usually enters via front of building due to most of building being
underground.
• Care must be taken lifting heavy equipment up steps onto stage.
• House usually opens 45 minutes before performance starts thus all performers and
equipment must be in place before this time.

General

• The Plaza is a receiving house.
• There is no access from F.O.H. to backstage or vice versa during a performance.
• Audio show relay to all dressing rooms.
