100 guests enjoyed a light supper of poached salmon followed by the latest offering in Plaza Cafe Lounge events on the evening of Saturday 28th May for our evening of fun and food better known as The Plaza Pudding Club

With a round of applause and an informative, if sometimes slightly far fetched historical insight into the 7 puddings on offer from the evenings Master of Ceremonys - Teddie Tarte Tatin (better known as General Manager Ted Doan), these great British puds were paraded in triumph amongst the hungry pudding fans ready to devour the culinary delight.

As the evening progressed the discerning diners had the unenviable task of considering which of the magnificent seven all served with lashings of Devonshire Custard was going to be the winner of the title of King or Queen of the puddings.

From Chocolate Sponge with a rich Bourneville Sauce, Jam Roly Poly and Spotted Dick to the Queen of Puddings, Treacle Tart and Coconut Sponge the evening was a flag waving, proud to be British night of culinary excellence with all the offerings created in our kitchen by Dickie The Chef and served by our delightful Plaza tarts (better known as Head Chef Keefy and the Plaza Waitress team!)

As the evening drew to a close the excitement increased as the score cards were handed in and the count began revealing that the hands down winner for the evening was 'The Queen of Puddings' a delightful sponge and lemon based pudding with a white biskit topping originally created for Queen Victoria by the Chefs in Buckingham Palace so a much deserved winner whilst with names in a hat one of our diners who had chosen the winning Pud was the recipient of a voucher for afternoon tea for two in the Plaza Cafe Lounge, Tickets to see Tony Christie...and....wait for it!......some £1.99 bubble bath a prize in itself to be cherised!!

With belts straining and a general contentment on the part of the diners the evening drew to a close with a resounding cheer for our great British Puddings which are alive, well and celebrated in the Plaza Cafe Lounge......For future Cafe Lounge events including our wine evenings, special suppers and future pudding clubs keep an eye on our web site for all details
